In January 2019, South Korean testing agency Standard Bank contacted LIB with a clear objective: to establish a complete IP testing laboratory that could meet a wider range of customer testing requirements.
Standard Bank needed more than a single IP testing chamber. Its requirements covered water ingress testing from IPX1 to IPX8, dust ingress testing for IP5X and IP6X, and salt spray testing. The laboratory also required professional installation and long-term technical support.
Based on these requirements, LIB designed and supplied a customized IP testing system integrating multiple water and dust testing solutions into one laboratory setup. The project also included on-site installation, commissioning, and continued calibration support after installation.
Standard Bank's requested equipment included a DI-1000 or DI-2000 dust test chamber, an R12-1600 system for IPX1/IPX2, an R-3200 system for IPX3/IPX4, an IPX5/IPX6 water jet testing system, an IPX7/IPX8 immersion system, and a salt spray test chamber.

Instead of treating these as separate products, LIB developed a coordinated IP testing laboratory solution according to the customer's testing scope, specimen requirements, and laboratory conditions.
The water ingress testing system was designed to cover the complete range from IPX1 to IPX8. The R12-1600 was configured for IPX1/IPX2 dripping water testing, while the R-3200 was used for IPX3/IPX4 water spray testing. For IPX5/IPX6, the water jet system provides controlled flow rates and standardized nozzles for more demanding water exposure testing. An immersion system was also included for IPX7/IPX8 testing.
Key configurations of the IP testing equipment include:
Test | LIB Equipment | Key Parameters / Configuration
IPX1/IPX2 | R12-1600 IPX1 IPX2 Water Drip Test Apparatus | Controlled dripping, rotating test table |
|
IPX3/IPX4 | R-3200 IPX3 X4 Test Equipment | Controlled water spray, adjustable test conditions | ![]() |
IPX5/ IPX6 | 12.5 L/min ±5% 100 L/min ±5% | ![]()
IPX7/IPX8 | Customized immersion depth and duration | ![]()
IP5X/IP6X | DI Series dust test chamber | Controlled dust circulation | ![]() |
Corrosion testing | Controlled salt spray environment | ![]() |
For IPX1 and IPX2, the R12-1600 provides controlled dripping conditions and a rotating test table for IPX2 testing. Water flow and test duration can be controlled according to the applicable test requirements.
For IPX3 and IPX4, the R-3200 provides controlled water spraying from specified directions. The spray arrangement can be configured according to the test method and specimen dimensions.
For IPX5 and IPX6, the water jet system supports typical flow rates of 12.5 L/min ±5% for IPX5 and 100 L/min ±5% for IPX6. Controlled nozzle-to-specimen distance, test duration, and water circulation help provide stable testing conditions.
For IPX7 and IPX8, the immersion system can be customized according to the required immersion depth, test duration, specimen dimensions, and applicable test method.
The solution also included a DI Series dust test chamber for IP5X and IP6X testing. The system provides controlled dust circulation and testing conditions for evaluating the ability of electrical and electronic enclosures to prevent dust ingress.
In addition to ingress protection testing, Standard Bank requested a salt spray test chamber for corrosion resistance evaluation. This expanded the laboratory's environmental testing capabilities beyond IP testing and allowed it to support a broader range of customer applications.
By combining these systems, LIB provided Standard Bank with a complete IP testing equipment solution rather than a collection of unrelated standalone machines.
For a laboratory project involving multiple testing systems, equipment delivery is only one part of the process.
LIB engineers traveled to South Korea to provide on-site installation and commissioning. The team supported equipment setup, system connections, operational checks, and final testing to help ensure that the equipment was properly installed and ready for laboratory operation.
LIB's involvement continued after the initial installation.
The company has provided annual ISO/IEC 17025 calibration support for the flow sensors used in Standard Bank's IP water testing equipment. Accurate water flow measurement is an important part of water ingress testing, and regular calibration helps verify measurement accuracy and maintain stable and repeatable testing conditions.
For a testing laboratory, long-term equipment performance is just as important as the initial purchase. Regular technical support and calibration can help laboratories maintain reliable testing conditions throughout the service life of their equipment.
The continued calibration support also reflects the long-term cooperation between LIB and Standard Bank, which began with the original laboratory project in 2019.
LIB provides a 3-year warranty and lifetime service for its environmental testing equipment.
For customers purchasing an individual IP test chamber or planning a complete IP testing laboratory, LIB can provide support throughout the project lifecycle, including:
Testing solution planning
Equipment selection and customization
Manufacturing
On-site installation and commissioning
Technical training
Calibration support
Maintenance and troubleshooting
Spare parts support
Lifetime technical service
This one-stop service allows customers to work with one experienced supplier from initial laboratory planning through equipment installation and long-term operation.
For complete laboratory projects, this approach can also simplify communication and coordination by reducing the need to manage multiple equipment suppliers.
The Standard Bank project demonstrates how LIB can support a testing organization from the initial planning stage through long-term laboratory operation.
The customized solution provided Standard Bank with capabilities for:
IPX1–IPX8 water ingress testing
IP5X/IP6X dust ingress testing
Salt spray corrosion testing
Customized testing configurations
On-site installation and commissioning
Annual flow sensor calibration support
3-year warranty
Lifetime technical service
More importantly, the cooperation has continued since the original project in 2019. The annual calibration service provides ongoing support for the laboratory's water testing equipment, while LIB's long-term technical service remains available throughout the equipment lifecycle.
For laboratories planning to establish or upgrade their IP testing capabilities, the required equipment depends on the target IP ratings, applicable standards, specimen dimensions, laboratory space, water supply, and testing workflow.
LIB provides customized IP testing systems ranging from individual water or dust ingress testing equipment to complete laboratory solutions. With capabilities covering solution design, equipment manufacturing, installation, commissioning, calibration support, and lifetime service, LIB can provide a practical one-stop solution for testing laboratories.
