While cell-level testing is essential, it cannot fully reproduce the complex thermal behavior of a complete battery pack, such as uneven temperature distribution, cooling system response, or connector stress.
Standard laboratory chambers often lack the space required to accommodate full-size EV battery packs together with external cooling systems, high-voltage cables, sensors, and test fixtures. A walk-in environmental chamber provides a controlled, large-scale test space for evaluating complete battery systems under repeatable environmental conditions.

The chamber can also be customized with reinforced floors, cable and coolant ports, monitoring systems, safety interlocks, emergency exhaust, smoke detection, pressure relief, and fire-system interfaces according to the battery test requirements.
The exact test profile depends on the battery chemistry, structural design, application, and applicable standards, including IEC 62660, ISO 12405, UN 38.3, IEC 60068, SAE J2464, and UL 2580.

Environmental control and battery safety must be engineered together. A standard climate chamber is not automatically designed to handle a battery thermal runaway event.
