What Is the Difference Between Air-Cooled Temperature Test Chamber and Water-Cooled Temperature Test Chamber?

Table of Content [Hide]

The temperature test chamber is one of the core equipment in the field of environmental testing. The difference between the two main cooling systems of air cooling and water cooling directly affects the choice of test equipment performance and use.

After using the temperature test chamber for high temperature test, the first problem is cooling, so whether to choose air cooling or water cooling is mainly determined by the environment (natural environment, test site environment).

Comparison of Technical Principles of Air Cooling and Water Cooling

The air cooling system transfers the refrigerant heat to the finned condenser through the compressor unit, and realizes heat dissipation by the forced air convection of the axial fan. The fan speed can be automatically adjusted according to the heat load. The water cooling system is equipped with an independent cooling tower or chiller to dissipate heat and transfer heat to the cooling water circulation system.

In terms of heat exchange efficiency, the thermal conductivity of the plate heat exchanger of the water-cooled system can reach 6000W/m²·K, and the water-cooled system is higher than the air-cooled system.

Air Cooling and Water Cooling Natural Environment Requirements

The temperature of the area is higher, and the effect of water cooling is better and the efficiency is higher. However, if the area is low for a long time, the water will freeze and affect the cooling process, it is suitable for air cooling.

Air-Cooled and Water-Cooled Test Site Requirements

The air cooling unit adopts an integrated design, covers a small area, and the cost is more affordable, to ensure the ventilation environment and the temperature environment of 5 to 28 ℃ around the equipment.

The water cooling unit covers a large area and needs a wide test site and sufficient water supply conditions.

On the whole, there is no advantage or disadvantage between these two cooling methods, air cooling is suitable for conventional laboratories with limited space and temperature and humidity control, and water cooling is the first choice for large load and extreme temperature testing. You can choose according to your actual needs.
