In the dust test, the key to ensure the reliability of the test results is to select the dust test chamber conforming to the IEC-60068-2-68 standard. The standard clearly stipulates that the volume of the measured part shall not exceed 25% of the volume of the equipment workroom, the bottom area shall not exceed 50% of the bottom area of the workroom, and the height shall be calculated according to the maximum size of the bottom area (the maximum height is 500mm).
This article will combine the actual calculation and selection logic to provide you with a clear operating guide.
The volume of the test piece should be ≤ workroom volume × 25%.
For example, if the volume of the measured part is 200L, the minimum volume of the workroom is 200L ÷ 25% = 800L.
The maximum bottom area of the test piece must be ≤ the bottom area of the workroom x 50%.
For example, if the bottom area of the test piece is 0.4m², the minimum bottom area of the workroom is 0.4m² ÷ 50% = 0.8m².

Note:
The size of the equipment should meet the requirements of volume and bottom area at the same time. The standard model slightly larger than the calculated value is preferred, and 10%-20% space is reserved for fixture installation or multi-sample testing.
Air flow: The test piece should be placed within 70% of the center area of the workroom, and the distance from the chamber wall should be ≥100mm to avoid interfering with the air circulation.
Environmental parameters: The humidity in the test chamber should be less than 25%, the temperature range is usually RT+5℃~60℃, and the suitable model should be selected according to the test standard.
