Air to Water Thermal Shock Chamber

The Air to Water Thermal Shock Chamber from LIB Industry combines an upper hot-air chamber with a lower temperature-controlled water tank to simulate severe hot-to-water thermal shock conditions.Test specimens are heated in the hot-air chamber and then automatically transferred into the water bath within 3 seconds. The lower water tank uses an integrated refrigeration coil to cool the water and provide rapid heat transfer during immersion.

The chamber is suitable for lithium battery components, automotive parts, electronic components, connectors, sealing materials and other products exposed to rapid temperature and water transitions.

  • Transfer Speed: ≤3 seconds rapid basket transfer

  • Temperature Span: +200°C (Hot Air) to -30°C (Water Bath)

  • Direct Cooling: Internal refrigeration coil inside the water tank

  • Dual Media Options: Pure water or antifreeze liquid solution

Hot Air → Rapid Transfer → Water

The chamber uses a simple two-zone structure:

SectionFunction
Upper Hot-Air ChamberCirculates hot air to heat the specimen, up to +200°C
Transfer MechanismAutomatically transfers the specimen between the two zones within 3 seconds
Lower Water TankProvides controlled water immersion for rapid cooling
Refrigeration CoilInstalled inside the water tank for direct water cooling

The standard configuration uses purified water at approximately +3 to +5°C. For lower-temperature testing, an antifreeze solution can be used, with the water temperature customizable to approximately -20 to -30°C depending on the application.

FAQs on Air to Water Thermal Shock Chamber

Q: What is the main advantage of Air-to-Water over Air-to-Air thermal shock testing?

A: Water has a significantly higher thermal conductivity than air. Direct liquid immersion creates a much steeper thermal shock gradient and faster heat dissipation, simulating extreme real-world conditions like sudden rain or water splash on hot components.

Q: How does the chamber reach sub-zero water temperatures without freezing?

A: Standard +3°C to +5°C testing uses purified water. For temperatures down to -20°C or -30°C, an ethylene-glycol antifreeze solution is used, directly cooled by the internal refrigeration coil.

Q: Is the ≤3-second transfer time guaranteed under full payload?

A: Yes. The electric drive mechanism is sized according to your specified payload weight to consistently achieve a ≤3-second basket transfer.

Q: What standards can the chamber meet, and can it be customized?

A: It complies with major automotive splash, immersion, and OEM reliability standards (ISO, IEC, MIL-STD). Chamber volumes, payloads, temperature spans, and test fixtures are fully customizable.

Q: What type of water should be used in the water bath?

A: Deionized or purified water is strongly recommended to prevent mineral scaling on the internal cooling coils, heating elements, and specimen surfaces.

Q: What warranty and technical support does LIB Industry provide?

A: LIB Industry provides a 3-year warranty and lifetime technical support. Service covers equipment operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical assistance throughout the equipment's service life.
